Spence
Brothers is a
family-owned Corporation
in the State of
Michigan. Spence
Brothers was founded in
1893 by brothers, Hugh
and Matt Spence, in
response to the need to
rebuild much of the east
side of Saginaw,
Michigan, which had been
lost in a devastating
fire. The founders
and their sons dedicated
their lives to growing
their business by
developing a reputation
for quality and
dependability that
quickly spread across
Michigan.
During the depression,
the family business
survived by finding and
building government Post
Office facilities
throughout the eastern
United States. The
following decades
brought a tremendous
growth to Spence
Brothers, through second
and third generation
leaders' ability to
tackle any project,
regardless of size or
complexity.
Currently, Spence
Brothers is led by third
and fourth generation
family members, as well
as key "extended family"
employees. They
have led Spence Brothers
through another period
of tremendous growth,
doubling their sales
volume over the past few
years.
Spence Brothers is now a
statewide industry
leader in providing
Construction Management,
Design/Build and General
Contracting services for
major health care,
educational,
recreational,
water/wastewater
treatment plant and
commercial/industrial
facilities throughout
Michigan.
