the Project study

Camp Michigania is a family camp owned and operated by the University of Michigan Alumni Association, which provides members and their families two unique settings for recreation and educational experiences, while promoting lifelong connections between current and future alumni. Situated on the shore of beautiful Walloon Lake in northern Michigan near Petoskey, this original Michigania site has been a sought-after destination for University of Michigan families since 1963. The site hosts summer, fall, and winter programs that feature at least two on-site discussions lead by expert faculty members from a variety of studies.

Spence Brothers served as the Construction Manager for this project, which involved the construction of a two-level summer camp dining hall.  The building is oriented to maximize the varied characteristics of the natural landscapes with primary dining spaces framing views of the surrounding lake and rustic scenery. Assisting also during design development, Spence Brothers provided value engineering, estimating, sustainability, and constructability reviews for the project.
