the Project study

When The Dow Chemical Company announced forming an innovative business center providing critical business services to Dow, its subsidiaries, and joint ventures, they awarded Spence Brothers the task of construction managing the build of this new strategic services center located near the site of Dow’s global headquarters.

In an amazing 10-month period – from the first shovel in the ground to occupancy – the Spence Brothers team delivered.  Remarkably, the build had zero change orders which support the excellent level of teamwork through the design and construction phases.  Additionally, there were no recordable safety incidents throughout the entire project.

Green Features
This new building uses state-of-the-art design and construction techniques that reduced energy consumption and environmental impact.  Achieving LEED Silver Certification, sustainable elements included a wise use of resources; improved water efficiency; energy savings; reduced carbon dioxide emissions;  sunscreens to control light and heat from the sun; high-efficiency motors, boilers, and air conditioning; significantly reduced construction waste through recycling; a healthy work environment with improved ventilation, low VOC materials, and greater control of lighting and temperature for employees.
