the Project study
This former bank building in the heart of Bay City, Michigan, is undergoing a dramatic redevelopment. Scheduled for completion in 2018, the breathtaking brick romanesque exterior – hidden for a half-century beneath a bland, white metal facade – is being restored to its original style. As the original masonry details on the first floor were replaced with a glass system, the entire first floor facade is being replaced to match the historic design.
The building will house 26 upscale residential apartments and 3 retail and commercial spaces. The project was supported in part by a Federal Historic Tax Credit and a Community Revitalization Program grant through the MEDC.
