Cordia Senior Living is housed in the Grand Traverse Commons, a hidden gem in the former Michigan State Psychiatric Hospital in Traverse City. Originally built in 1885, the building had been shuttered for 25 years before its rebirth as a mixed-use development for retail, residential, and senior living.

Spence Brothers self-performed major trade packages related to the renovation of the facility to accommodate 110 private residences and common areas serving the development. Aside from typical common spaces such as libraries, fitness rooms, and studies, Cordia features a pub, a salon spa, and a movie theater. In total, common areas total 30,000 square feet.
