the Project study

The Boys and Girls Club of the Great Lakes Bay Region (B&GC) did not have a physical presence in the City of Saginaw for nearly a decade. Through the efforts of a group of business and civic leaders, including Spence Brothers President and CEO, the Club partnered with the YMCA of Saginaw to raise funding for new home for the organization.

The City of Saginaw owned the former Junior Achievement building neighboring the YMCA, which provided a viable floor plan for B&GC programming. Following a successful capital campaign, the building was renovated and renamed the Saginaw Kids CampUs to reflect the partnership with the community.

The new concept required demolition of existing concrete floors, masonry partition walls, and asbestos abatement. New concrete walks were installed and an existing entry way was removed and replaced with fiber cement paneling to eliminate additional access points for security. The new building features a game room, offices, art rooms, learning center, and computer room.
