the Project study
This project involved the construction of a new practice facility for the men’s and women’s golf programs at The University of Michigan. This facility provides year-round practice space with putting and chipping areas and driving bays to utilize the existing driving ranges. The facility also provides a team gathering space, coaching staff offices, locker rooms, a conference room and storage. Spence Brothers served as the general contractor for the project, which was the result of a generous donation by an alumnus of the University.
Green Features
Sustainable features include a vertical well geothermal heat pump system the first of its kind at The University of Michigan. Spence Brothers self-performed concrete and carpentry/general trades.
Spence Brothers' Project Manager
The Golf Practice Facility at The University of Michigan was a smaller construction project with a huge impact on their golf program. The geothermal system used is performing well and providing great benefits in reducing on-going operational costs.
