Spence Brothers to move headquarters to the SVRC Marketplace

Spence Brothers is pleased to announce that it has selected to move its headquarters to the SVRC Marketplace at 203 Washington in Downtown Saginaw. The move will take place upon completion of the redevelopment of the former Saginaw News building, to be renamed the SVRC Marketplace in early 2018.

Spence Brothers will occupy roughly half of the third floor overlooking the Saginaw River and outdoor farmers market area. The SVRC Marketplace is a 100,000 square foot mixed-use development that will also be home to an indoor-outdoor farmers market, SVRC’s administrative offices and other retail and office spaces. Originally constructed by Spence Brothers in 1960, the building was recently added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Commenting on the move, President and CEO of Spence Brothers, Herb Spence III said, “Our family company has been based in the Riverfront Saginaw area for 124 years.  We have been honored to help build so many facilities here during that time, including the former Saginaw News building.  We are even more proud to be helping organizations like SVRC, who are currently revitalizing Saginaw’s downtown and riverfront.”

“Spence Brothers was already excited about leading the construction phase of the SVRC Marketplace redevelopment, which is about to begin.  Now, we are thrilled to take advantage of another opportunity to make this important community project a success, by moving our company headquarters there.  Our employees are definitely looking forward to working in what will be an amazing environment next year, when we will also be celebrating our company’s 125th anniversary”.
