It’s back-to-school season, and Spence Brothers transformed a construction site into a collection site by hosting a Back-to-School Donation Drive & Lunch at the Dow Gardens and Midland Center for the Arts project site.
With our subcontractors, partners and staff, we gathered supplies to donate to Foster Families Navigation & Resource Center, a local nonprofit connecting foster families, kids, and parents to resources available in their area. They also provide information and education to further support families navigating through foster care.
With a loader already onsite for construction work, we moved it to the lunch area and gave it a special role in the day’s celebration. Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, the loader was filled with hundreds of school supplies, dozens of backpacks, and other essential items, all destined to support foster children and families across nine counties, including Midland.

After collecting all the generous donations in the loader and posing for a quick group photo, our subcontractors, partners and staff enjoyed a catered lunch, which energized, them for the remainder of their afternoon work and bonded them over the success of this drive and the impact it will have throughout nine counties. We believe building community goes hand in hand with building projects, and this drive was proof of that.
