Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College Celebrates Grand Opening of New Campus

The Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College held a ribbon-cutting and open house to celebrate the opening of its new campus in Mount Pleasant, MI. The 56,000-square-foot facility was successfully renovated by Spence Brothers, allowing the college to consolidate its facilities into a single building. This provides an updated and modern campus for students, faculty, staff, and the community. The tribal college aims for the move to prepare students to be transformational leaders in their tribal community.

Previously, leasing four buildings within an industrial park limited student growth and development and did not provide a consistent identity for the Tribal College. This led to the purchase of a three-story building (formerly owned by MidMichigan College) on a 10-acre property. The goal was to transform the venue into a more culturally relevant, modern, updated campus for SCTC’s students, faculty, staff, and the Tribal Community at large.

The new campus includes common areas throughout, multiple academic classrooms, computer and science labs, a Tribal Student Library, GED teaching/testing space, multiple meeting rooms and community space, student study spaces, faculty offices, and tribal college administrative offices.
